Free Cabinet Install Leads

Cabinets.com has reached out to offer free leads to my followers for their cabinet installations. They currently do not offer installation as a service and their customers always ask for installation solutions, so they are asking if my community would like to be placed on a directory that they can offer to their clients. I think this is a fantastic idea (free leads are always better than paid leads) so I’ve offered to use the channel to get the word out for free. They are currently coming up with a process for you all to sign up to get placed on the directory. As soon as it’s finished I’ll be excited to announce it on the channel. If my number one rule is “no paywalls”… then my number two rule is definitely “stop paying for leads”. I’ll keep y’all up to date as soon as I hear something more!

Writing Superior Estimates With AI

Jobber has quietly added a new feature that allows you to have AI re-write your estimates, line items, and invoices for you. I tested it out today with bad grammar, misspellings, and overall lack of professionalism and asked it to re-write it and here are the results. Here are screenshots of the original horrible estimate and a screenshot of what it looked like after clicking the “rewrite” button one time.

This is in addition to a handful of other awesome new improvements that they have released this year. There are new marketing tools for mass email campaigns as well as a new system in place to automatically direct your clients to review your business on Google once the invoice is closed out. Additionally, Jobber is having the biggest sale I’ve seen so far, offering 50% off for the first 3 months, which feels like a really good way to get into a Grow plan to see if the additional features are right for me. The sale ends on March 29, and you can click here to start your free trial. https://go.getjobber.com/bulletproofhandyman

Bulletproof Handyman Facebook Community Group

I’ve created a group for us on Facebook. Given how fast the channel is growing I think we need a good place to connect off of YouTube. You can find it by searching for Bulletproof Handyman or by clicking here. https://www.facebook.com/BulletproofHandyman/ Facebook seems to have a technical issue getting the group going but if you go to the page in the link above and follow, you’ll receive a notification when the group is live.

Scheduling On YOUR Schedule

I’d like to share with you my template text message that I use to schedule tenants. Oftentimes the tenants expect us to schedule when they’re home in the evening and on weekends which leaves us working evenings and weekends when we should be home with our families. This is the template that I follow that has been refined over the years to ensure tenants schedule when I’m available, rather than when they’re available:

Hi, this is (Insert Name) with (Insert Company Name). We have a work order from (Insert PM Company Name) to complete some repairs that you requested for your property at (Insert Work Order Address). Our next availability will be (Insert Proposed Appointment Date And Time). We expect this job to take between (insert how long you think it will take) hours. Can someone over the age of 18 be home for the duration of this appointment for us to complete the assigned work order? Thanks! (Your Name)

Here is what it would look like with all the blanks filled in: “Hi, this is Ray Duke with Bulletproof Handyman Property Services. We have a work order from Tucson Property Management to complete some repairs that you requested for your property at 1234 N. Main St. Our next availability will be this coming Wednesday, March 26, for arrival between 1pm and 2pm. We expect this job to take between 3-4 hours. Can someone over the age of 18 be home for the duration of this appointment for us to complete the assigned work order? Thanks! Ray Duke

Summertime Upselling

Summer is right around the corner, which means so is the heat. Your clients will be needing new air filters, duct cleaning, swamp cooler maintenance, weather stripping, back porch misters, and various other improvements to make sure that they’re ready for the heat! Get in touch with them, through Jobbers Email Marketing feature or wherever you go to connect with your clients, and let them know that you’re ready and stocked up for the task!

Staying in touch throughout the year is a perfect way to remind your clients that they have a qualified and professional handyman ready to meet their needs 24/7. While you’re there, don’t forget to keep an eye out for other items that are in need of repair. Sometimes home owners get so accustomed to things that they forget that they wanted to get them fixed!

Get Interviewed

I intend on doing a lot of interviews this summer, and I’d prefer to interview real tradesmen and handymen who are in the arena giving it all they’ve got. If you’re just starting up your handyman business or if you’ve been doing this for years and you think you have something of value to add to the community let me know and I’ll see about getting you scheduled for an interview to be posted on the channel. You can email me at [email protected]

Master Class Scheduled To Go Live May 3

I’m still building it out but the progress looks good. Fingers crossed, I’ll be releasing the Free Master Class “How To Start A Bulletproof Handyman Business” on time! In the meantime, I’m posting individual lessons on the YouTube channel for those of you who can’t wait.

Campout/Convention!!! May 29-June 3

If you don’t already know, we’re having a small Handyman Convention this year. This will be a campout over the course of 4 days here in the mountains of Arizona. Full details are on the Facebook page. If you’re reading this, you’re invited! The only thing I ask is that anyone in attendance please try to come up with a short 20 minute presentation about anything Handyman Business related. This way I can print up some attendance forms and we can all take home some proof for our accountants and for the IRS that this was in fact business related and therefore tax deductible. The goal here is to simply connect with our community in ways that most of us usually can’t because we’re too busy solving our clients problems.
