Winter Work Is Coming!

Right now is the time to start reminding your clients that the cold weather is upon us and get a head start on winterizing. Whether you work for property managers or home owners, you properties need to be checked out before routine pre-winter maintenance becomes an expensive emergency. Right now is the time to market yourself as the go-to handyman for winterization including…

1. Check all exposed exterior plumbing for proper insulation.

2. Winterize swamp coolers and drain the water supply.

3. Check doors and windows for proper weather stripping and a good seal.

4. Install new air filters before turning on the heat.

5. Inspect and/or clean gas and wood fireplaces before first use and check functionality of the flue.

Additionally now is the time to alert your clients that as the holidays approach your schedule is about to get busy with clients needing maintenance completed before all of the holiday parties and guests arrive. There is always a tight push just before each holiday to fix everything before the party and you won’t be able to take care of everyone if they all wait until the last minute. Consider providing a discounted rate for an inspection and then a set rate for any repairs necessary at the completion of the inspection.

It’s The Season For Tool Sales!

Home depot is finally starting to put their tools on sale for the holidays. This means two things.

1. They are putting many of their power tools on clearance to make room for the newest versions. Every Home Depot I’ve been to in the last week has tons of clearance tools on the end caps at killer deals!

2. The holiday package deals are rolling out. These are nearly always a killer deal. Most of my more expensive tools were purchased this way. If you’re just starting out this is also the time to purchase large discounted packages of power tools all on one platform.

I don’t have any affiliation with Home Depot or any other retailers, I just wanted to let y’all know that it’s time for the sales and if you look hard you can find some outstanding deals. Pro Tip - scan the barcodes with the Home Depot app for the clearance tools. Oftentimes they are much more steeply discounted than the tag shows.
